It’s a fact, the vast majority of home and business intruder activations are false alarms. Not only is it inconvenient for staff to be called outside of working hours to attend a site for a false alarm, but it is disruptive to the business’s productivity the next day.

We, at AKME Securitas, have found that a business’s key holder are prime members of staff and as such, the cost to a business in financial and human resource terms can be intrusive when relying on staff to respond to intruder alarm activations. The same can be said of home key holders if on holiday or just on a night out.

THE PRINCIPLE CONSIDERATIONS OF A KEY HOLDER

Are you able to respond 24/7, in the middle of the night if necessary?
How will this impact your family life if often you are waking up partners?
You are out on a Saturday night, have you got the keys and how will you get to site?
What are you walking into? Have you been trained to deal with all eventualities?
What will you do if there is someone inside the premises?

KEY HOLDERS ARE AT RISK – CONSIDER THESE STATS

Property crime accounts for the majority of recorded crime statistics recorded by the Police 2009/2010 (78% and 70% respectively)
Violence, including robbery, accounts for about a fifth (22%).
There were 2000 instances of recorded robbery during 2009.

Akme Securitas is a fully trained and licensed operation, as per N(1) 125/2007 Republic of Cyprus Law, this comes at a cost to them of 5000,00€ first year then 2050.00€ every year after that.
“As other companies who do not have these licenses nor done the required training they have a unfair commercial advantage in our market of expertise, not only that but they are breaking the law which can result in them receiving up to 30000.€ fine and/or up to two years imprisonment,” says Akme Chief Executive Jeff Greenwood NdipSM,FINSTD.
His main concern is what will happen to their clients after these inevitable incidences, when they are arrested or go out of business. What happens to the after-care service, what happens to the equipment maintenance, what happens to the clients’ keys, what happens if they are burgled/robbed as their insurance companies will not payout if security equipment was fitted by non licensed companies.
Public members are vulnerable to security advice by non-licensed companies and it is evident that clients are being provided with false information and are not fully protected by security companies who are offering services and in fact breaking the law, whilst steeling business from legitimate companies like Akme.
